I had no problem from quote to fitting, found them very easy to deal with and always replied promptly to my barrage of emails .. I’ve not hooked up the caravan yet to see if it works, but I’m sure it will be fine ..Posted on Aussie AdventurerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Don’t know what I would’ve done without the help from the team at Tom’s Towbars- had to get a new Car and in order to tow our Caravan we needed a break controller fitted which was impossible to do 1 week before Christmas. They offered a simple solution via a portable Bluetooth break controller rather than trying to find a place that could install us the traditional break controller which is fitted directly to the Car. Not only did this suggestion help us save a lot of money but time and stress as well as we only had a half day left in Perth to figure out what to do. So when arriving at the shop, they checked out everything electrical on our cars back end where the 12 pin plug was, to make sure we would choose the correct product. Once we arrived at our home some 1000 kilometres away it was an easy do it yourself install on the caravan A frame with a simple adapter to make everything work wirelessly- couldn’t be happier and so we are very thankful for Tom and his team to think outside the box and come up with the best no fuss solution for our dilemma. I wonder why none of the other 30 plus business we called ever thought of making the same suggestion 🤷♂️ Credit to Tom and his team for being creative and basically literally saving our holiday at the last second 👏👏👏 Cheers guys and many thanks once again for all your help and efforts 😊 Wishing you all a wonderful new year 🥳 Cheers Jim & Antoniette Naeger You guys rock 🤘Posted on Joshua HughesTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. What types of vehicles do you fit towbars to?
Almost anything. We fit towbars to most passenger vehicles, 4WDs, SUVs, utes, electric and hybrid cars as well as light trucks and commercial/fleet vehicles.
If you’re unsure whether we can cover your make and model, get in touch and we’ll let you know!
What's the difference between a class 4 and class 2 towbar?
Class 2 is rated to 1,200kg braked and suits lighter vehicles including sedans, hatchbacks and small SUVs towing trailers, bikes, jet skis or small campers.
Class 4 covers 1,400kg up to 3,500kg and is the right choice for 4WDs, large SUVs and utes towing caravans, boats or horse floats.
Not sure? Let us know what type of vehicle you have, and what you need to tow and we can provide guidance on safe, secure towing anywhere in Australia.
Do you fit the wiring and electrics as well?
Can you fit a towbar to my electric/EV or hybrid car?
Yes. We fit towbars to all major EV and hybrid makes including Polestar, BYD, MG, Kia, Hyundai IONIQ, and Toyota hybrids.
Currently, the only EV we do not support is Tesla.
How long does it usually take to install a towbar?
Are Tom's towbars covered by any warranty?
Will an aftermarket towbar void my car's warranty?
This is probably the most common concern people have, and it’s more nuanced than dealers often let on.
Under Australian Consumer Law, a manufacturer or dealer cannot void your vehicle warranty simply because you’ve had an aftermarket accessory fitted by an independent workshop. They would need to demonstrate that the accessory or its installation actually caused the fault being claimed – and a properly installed, ADR-compliant towbar is very unlikely to do that.
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has been clear on this. If a dealer tells you that fitting an aftermarket towbar will void your warranty, it’s worth asking them to put that in writing – because in most cases, they can’t back that claim up.
